The Company
Mediagnost Gesellschaft für Forschung und Herstellung von Diagnostika GmbH was founded in Tübingen in 1985 and quickly developed into a modern and innovative biotechnology company. Today, we are a globally active diagnostics manufacturer.
In the Technology Park Tübingen-Reutlingen, we have the most modern and well-equipped premises for research and production under optimal conditions. Our laboratories are approved for S2 work.
The production of our diagnostics is subject to the quality requirements for medical products according to the German Medical Devices Act and the European Directive 98/79/EC. Mediagnost accordingly has a quality management system that has been certified by a notified body in accordance with EN ISO 13485.
The proximity to the University of Tübingen and numerous contacts to other research institutions enable us to translate scientific findings into marketable products. In addition to the commercialization of in-house test systems based on existing antibodies, we also apply for patent protection for your idea and take over the development of the test system.
We see working on research projects to develop diagnostics with greater efficiency and sensitivity using state-of-the-art techniques, as well as opening up new fields of application for existing test systems, as an important task in providing our customers with optimal solutions.

Acid-labile Subunit human – The acid-labile subunit (ALS) consists of 577 amino acids and is part of the so-called ternary complex of IGF-I/IGFBP-3 or IGFBP-5 and ALS. The formation of this complex significantly prolongs the half-life of IGF-I in circulation. It increases from 30 -90 minutes up to 12 hours so that the formation of the ternary complex regulates the bioavailability of IGF-I.
So far, no diagnostic application of the ALS concentration is known. The Mediagnost test enables the reliable and reproducible measurement of ALS and thus the investigation of the biomarker properties of ALS e.g. in the field of Doping or Preeclampsia.
The Mediagnost ALS ELISA is suitable for the measurement of human ALS in serum and plasma. An overview of the characteristics of the test system can be found in the table below, detailed information is available in the package insert and on request.
Adiponectin human – Adiponectin is a 30 kDa protein that represents approximately 0.01 % of serum proteins. The ADIPOQ gene is the most highly expressed gene in adipocytes. Nevertheless, serum adiponectin concentration is inversely related to body fat content.
The protein, consisting of 244 amino acids, has a globular domain that shows a structural similarity with TNF alpha. The adiponectin monomers form a trimer as the basic form; in addition to this trimer, adiponectin is present in different multimers (hexamer, high-molecular weight) and influences energy metabolism.
In addition to the test system for the detection of human adiponectin, Mediagnost also offers assays for the measurement of adiponectin in mice and rats (cf. Animal Assays).
Chemerin human – Chemerin (Retinoic Acid Receptor Responder Protein 2), a protein of 137 amino acids, can exert pro- and anti-inflammatory effects depending on the specificity of the proteases cleaving the original protein. It has positive chemotactic effects on dendritic cells and macrophages. In addition, chemerin can affect adipocyte differentiation and intracellular signaling of differentiated adipocytes.
